We attended Grandma Bathsheba Thomander's Funeral on January 25th, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Here is her obituary.

Bathsheba May (Fisher) Thomander passed away at home on January 2, 2014, just two weeks prior to her 98th birthday. She was born in Salt Lake City, UT January 16, 1916 to Joseph Armstrong Fisher and Margaret May Merrill. She was the youngest of five children and was preceded in death by her brothers David Fisher, Clarence Fisher and Joseph Fisher and by her sister Josephine Affleck. She is survived by two children, Dawn Smith of Park City, UT and Darryl Thomander of Palo Alto, CA, as well as 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
"Bashie" graduated from South High School and LDS Business College. She married Avon B. Thomander, of Salt Lake City, in 1938. They lived in Pittsburg PA, San Mateo CA, Los Angeles CA and La Canada CA. Avon, who died in 1976, owned and operated Plastic Fabricating Company. After Avon's death, Bashie moved to Laguna Niguel CA where she later met and married Ashley Robison. He passed on ten years later and she then returned to Salt Lake City, where she lived in the Sugar House area for more than two decades.
She enjoyed serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many callings including Relief Society President. She was an active member of the Daughter's of the Utah Pioneers. At the time of her passing, she likely held the distinction of being the only living child of a U.S. Civil War veteran. She was known and loved for her friendliness, easy-going manner, positive attitude and sparkling personality. She will be missed by all. Her resting place is next to Avon in Salt Lake City Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on January 25, 2014, at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the service

outstanding woman who always made me feel loved and that she was my friend.  I loved listening to everyones' stories about her and understanding more about her background and the challenges and blessings she experienced in her life.  It was a treat to be with all of her lineage...she and Avon Thomander had two children, Dawn and Darryl.

Darryl and Nanci had 6 children, including me, the oldest.  Dawn and Jerry Warnick had 6 children.

I was surprised to hear that their memories of grandma matched so many of my own.  The comfortable, happy feeling being around her.  Her unconditional love and support for us, her giggle and sparkle, her love of people and conversation and devotion to the gospel all her life.

I came home feeling renewed and happy and proud of my grandma for living such a full and beautiful life.  I'll include some of the talks and pictures from the funeral further down, when I receive them from my cousin, Lisa.

I also got to have the treat of seeing old friends while in Utah.

Anna and I got to stay with Aly Freedman the first night in their home in Provo.  We got to go out to lunch with Sarah Peterson, who I haven't seen in 20 years!  What happened to my college room-mates?  Aly has 5 kids and is so busy and they have a gazillion stores now of Downeast Outfitters all over the West Coast.  She is in the stake young womens presidency.  Sarah has 6 kids, her husband is a dermatologist and she has been Primary President, YW President and Stake YW President.
I mean, wow!  Have they ever taken on life!  And Sarah's oldest daughter is engaged so they are raising the next generation to do just what they've done.  I was impressed.

Anna loved hanging out with the Freedmans and seeing their busy lives and playing in the snow.  Thank you Aly!  Such a fun and amazing friend!

After the funeral, we stayed with Jen and her kids.  Anna and Zoey became fast friends!

After way too much fun hanging out with Jen and her wonderful family...she took us to the airport where we came to home with Eric taking care of the kids.

Olivia found her bat-girl costume!  Actually Eric had had a horrible time.  Colton was very very sick with a high temperature and ear aches on both sides, so he was worn out.  Thanks Eric for watching our family.  I'm so grateful for him and to come home to such a happy life, even though it is busy with wonderful and hard moments trying to keep everyone happy and healthy!
